In April 2016, a team of students and academics from the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Sheffield, travelled to Mexico to work with the UN Major Group for Children and Youth at the Habitat III Latin American and Caribbean regional preparatory meeting held in Toluca, Mexico.
Pictured L-R: Elena Leggett, Megan Bethell, Oscar Wong, George Coiley, Professor Seth Schindler, Professor Miguel Kanai, Abigail Hutchings and Katia Garcia Ulloa, joined delegates from the UN Major Group for Youth and Children to work on a position paper which will be presented at the main Habitat III meeting in Quito, Ecuador in October. As well as being involved in the work of the UNMGYC, the group also observed sessions at the H3Toluca meeting, writing reflective blogs about their experience at the Summit.
The group spent a week in Mexico. Alongside attending the summit in Toluca, the group visited Mexico City and visited field sites where they discussed issues of urban regeneration.
